Qatar Airways Adds 8 Routes, Bogotá-Caracas Delayed to November
The Doha-based carrier is launching new services to South America, Asia, and Europe, with several routes returning after a hiatus.

Simple Flying reports that Qatar Airways has launched eight major new routes in 2026, including several returns to markets it previously served. The airline now connects Doha to more than 170 destinations worldwide.
New and returning routes
Two of the eight services start in November. The long-awaited triangular route to South America will serve El Dorado International Airport (BOG) in Bogotá, Colombia, and continue to Simón Bolívar International Airport (CCS) in Caracas, Venezuela. The launch was delayed multiple times, initially from a planned July 22 debut due to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, then again after a devastating earthquake struck Venezuela in late June. A Qatar Airways spokesperson told Simple Flying at the time, "The launch of services to Bogota and Caracas has been postponed following the recent earthquake in Venezuela." The route is now scheduled for November 4, operating twice weekly (Wednesdays and Sundays) on a Boeing 777-200LR with Qsuite business class.
Other new services include:
- Alexandria (ALY), Egypt: started September 2026, twice weekly on an Airbus A320ceo, increasing to daily from July 2027.
- Philadelphia (PHL): a returning service that launched in August 2026, replacing American Airlines' one daily flight, operated by Airbus A350-900.
- Port Sudan (PZU): launched July 2026, three times weekly on an Airbus A320ceo.
- Tokyo Haneda (HND): returned July 2026 with one daily flight, complementing existing Narita service, using Airbus A350-900 or Boeing 777-200LR.
- Helsinki (HEL): returned July 2026 with one daily Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner flight, after Finnair pulled out of the Doha market citing commercial reasons.
- Hail (HAS), Saudi Arabia: launched January 2026, three times weekly on Airbus A320ceo.
Winter schedule boost
Simple Flying reports that Qatar Airways has scheduled about 78,872 flights and 22.5 million seats for the Northern Hemisphere winter season (October 25 through March 27, 2027). From a typical week in November, the airline will operate more than 1,700 one-way international flights per week.
London Heathrow gets the biggest increase: from October 25, Qatar Airways will fly 56 weekly flights (up from 49), roughly eight daily departures, an 11% capacity jump. Jeddah, Riyadh, and Sharjah each reach about seven daily departures.
In Australia, the airline doubles Melbourne and Sydney services from seven to 14 weekly flights starting December 9, and restarts Brisbane (three weekly) and Perth (four weekly). In Europe, Frankfurt increases from 18 to 21 weekly flights from December 7. In North America, Montreal goes from five to seven weekly flights from October 25, a 40% seat capacity increase.
For travellers, the new routes mean more options to South America, Asia, and Europe, with the Bogotá-Caracas service offering a unique connection through Doha. The returning Helsinki and Haneda flights fill gaps left by partner airlines, giving passengers more choices for Gulf-Asia and Gulf-Europe travel.
