British Airways revamps first class service and amenities

New amenity kits, bedding, and a “From the Grill” dining option debut immediately across all BA first-class cabins.

British Airways has announced an overhaul of its first-class soft product — the service, amenities, and food you get on board. One Mile at a Time reports the changes are effective immediately and apply to all planes with first class, not just those getting the new seats.

The amenity kit now comes from British heritage brand Swaine, in royal blue or cream. Inside: skincare from Wildsmith’s Circadian Rhythm line — face mist, lotion, balm, lip balm, cream, and an overnight mask. New bedding includes a herringbone-pattern day blanket, a navy cushion, lightweight cotton duvet, and a redesigned pillow. Cool-touch fabric sleepwear and slippers round out the cabin comfort.

Dining gets a “From the Grill” option, letting you build a meal from a choice of proteins (roast rack of lamb, grilled salmon), sides, and sauces, plus signature mains. The tableware is upgraded with stoneware and fine bone china, cutlery from Studio William, and wine glasses developed with Richard Brendon.

The airline is also rolling out updated First Service Specialist training for all first-class crew, described as more personalized and responsive to individual preferences.

One Mile at a Time calls the changes “evolutionary, not revolutionary” — nice upgrades but not enough to make Air France lose sleep. That feels right. New cutlery and better pillows are welcome, but BA isn’t reinventing first class. The real draw remains the Concorde Room lounge access and the ability to sleep flat across the Atlantic on a lie-flat seat, which hasn’t changed.

For families: these updates won’t affect most of us traveling with kids in economy. But if you’re splurging on first class, the incremental improvements are a solid step — just don’t expect a completely new experience.
