British Airways has finished the interior design for its refurbished Airbus A380, giving the superjumbo what Simple Flying reports is the largest business class cabin on any commercial aircraft.

The most visible change is on the upper deck, where the carrier installed 106 Club Suites. Every passenger in that cabin gets a private suite with a closing door and direct aisle access. The seat converts to a fully flat bed. The upper deck is divided into four zones and includes a redesigned Club Kitchen for snacks and refreshments.

The new layout

The main deck carries three cabins. First class has 12 suites, down from 14 on the existing A380. Each suite has a larger enclosed space, a fully flat bed, a personal wardrobe, and a 4K entertainment display. An ottoman lets two passengers traveling together dine face-to-face.

Behind First is an expanded World Traveller Plus cabin with 84 seats, up from 55. The premium economy section moves entirely to the main deck in a 2-4-2 arrangement, with additional privacy features and larger entertainment screens.

World Traveller economy occupies the rest of the main deck with 215 seats, compared with 303 in the current configuration. New economy seats include adjustable headrests, larger screens, and USB-C connectivity.

British Airways says more than 35,000 individual parts will be installed on each aircraft as part of the refurbishment.

What it means for your next trip

The first refurbished A380 is expected to enter service later this year. British Airways has not published a complete list of routes for the redesigned aircraft. Since each plane is being refurbished individually, travelers will need to check the specific aircraft assigned to their flight to know whether they get the new interior.

The investment extends beyond the aircraft. At London Heathrow Terminal 5, the airline is building a new First Wing and First Lounge as part of a broader premium customer experience upgrade. First class passengers will get updated dining and bedding, and specially trained First Service Specialists will support the new dining offering across the long-haul fleet.

For now, the redesigned A380 shifts the aircraft from a pure capacity machine toward a high-premium platform. The critical question, as Simple Flying notes, is whether the additional premium seats and improved airport experience can generate enough revenue to keep one of aviation's largest passenger aircraft in the fleet.
