Air Canada Delays Toronto–Dubai Return to March
The carrier pushes back its only UAE nonstop by two months as the Iran Crisis continues to affect demand and safety.

Reported by Simple Flying — Air Canada will not resume its nonstop Toronto–Dubai flights in January as originally planned. The airline now expects to restart the 14-hour route on March 1, 2026, citing ongoing geopolitical tensions from the Iran Crisis.
Air Canada fully withdrew from the Middle East earlier this year. The Toronto–Dubai service had been flown daily before the crisis forced a halt. Emirates remains the only airline flying regularly between Canada and Dubai, operating daily Airbus A380 service from Toronto and Montreal.
For the Star Alliance carrier, the delay means another two months without a presence on a route that relies heavily on connecting passengers from across Canada. Air Canada will use its Boeing 787-9 on the route, which seats 298 passengers in three classes. Emirates’ A380 carries up to 489 passengers and offers a chauffeur service in Toronto, which draws premium travellers.
The two airlines have a joint codeshare agreement, so passengers can still book a single ticket on Emirates through Air Canada. But for those who prefer Air Canada’s hard product or loyalty program, the wait just got longer.
Air Canada has also updated its Tel Aviv plans. Toronto to Tel Aviv resumes November 30, moved up from January. Montreal to Tel Aviv will restart January 18.
