Wyndham Rewards: Earning points guide
Award nights start at 5,000 points, and there are multiple ways to build a balance through stays, credit cards, transfers, dining, surveys, and more.

The Points Guy reports that Wyndham Rewards has a four-tier award chart with nights costing 5,000, 15,000, 30,000 or 45,000 points. That means even a modest points balance can unlock a free night, especially during peak travel.
Earning on hotel stays
On qualifying stays at most Wyndham properties, you earn 10 points per dollar spent, or at least 1,000 points per stay — whichever is higher. At WaterWalk Extended Stay by Wyndham, you earn 5 points per dollar. For brands like Wyndham Grand, Dolce Hotels and Wyndham Garden, the earning is on total charges, not just the room rate. You can earn on up to three rooms per night, and Points + Cash stays also earn points on the cash portion.
To qualify, your eligible room rate (or total charges for select brands) must be at least $25. You won't earn points if you book through a third-party website; you need to book through Wyndham's own channels — call centers, website, app, or at the hotel.
Credit cards
Barclays issues several Wyndham Rewards credit cards. According to The Points Guy, the Earner, Earner Plus, Earner Premier, Earner Business, and a debit card are currently available. Each offers a set number of points after you book and pay for at least five qualifying nights in a calendar year — for example, the Earner Plus offers 30,000 points, and the entry-level Earner offers 15,000 points. Some cards also include benefits like discounted award stays or complimentary elite status.
Transfer partners
You can transfer points from several programs into Wyndham Rewards. The Points Guy highlights the 1:2 ratio from Wells Fargo Rewards as a particularly good option. Other transferable currencies are available, but TPG's October 2026 valuation of 0.55 cents per point means Wyndham isn't always the most valuable use of flexible points.
Other earning methods
**Dining:** Through the Dine Out with Wyndham Rewards program (powered by Rewards Network), you can earn 5 points per dollar at participating restaurants if you opt into emails, or 1 point per dollar if you opt out.
**Ticketmaster:** Link your Wyndham account to earn 1 point per dollar on base ticket prices (excluding fees). Insider members earn 2 points per dollar, up to 50,000 points per calendar year; other members cap at 25,000 points.
**Rental cars:** You can earn 2 Wyndham points per dollar on base rates from Alamo, Enterprise or National when you provide your Wyndham number at booking. Avis and Budget rentals earn 100 points per day at participating locations, but you usually won't earn through the car rental's own loyalty program at the same time.
**Surveys:** Opinion Rewards Panel and e-Rewards both offer 500 Wyndham points after your first survey within 90 days. Subsequent surveys earn points (Opinion Rewards) or e-Rewards points that can be redeemed for Wyndham points.
**Business program:** Companies earn 1 point per dollar on business-qualified stays using a corporate code, and 1 point per dollar on groups, meetings, or events at participating properties. Points are per event or per room spend.
**Buying points:** You can buy up to 100,000 points per year at $13 per 1,000 (1.3 cents per point). The Points Guy values points at 0.55 cents, so buying only makes sense for a specific high-value redemption or during a discounted sale.
Elite status
Wyndham Rewards has four membership levels: Blue (entry), Gold after 5 qualifying nights, Platinum after 15, and Diamond after 40. Elite members earn bonus points on qualifying stays. Insider membership offers higher bonus rates. Bonus points are added to base points before the 1,000-point floor is applied.
The bottom line
Wyndham Rewards points are relatively easy to earn, with many pathways beyond hotel stays. Award nights starting at 5,000 points mean even a small balance can be useful. The Points Guy reports that one writer got 3.48 cents per point during a peak event in Adelaide, showing that on high-rate nights, these points can deliver outsized value.
