Capital One Venture Rewards bonus: Who qualifies and who doesn't
The Points Guy breaks down the 48-month rule, six-month application limit and credit score recommendations for the $95-annual-fee card.

The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card offers new applicants 75,000 bonus miles after spending $4,000 in the first three months, plus a $300 credit for hotels and vacation rentals booked through Capital One Travel. The card carries a $95 annual fee. But approval depends on several eligibility rules, as The Points Guy explains.
Eligibility rules
Capital One generally does not approve more than one card application within six months. If you have been approved for any Capital One card in the last six months, wait before applying for the Venture Rewards.
The card's terms also impose a 48-month clock on the welcome bonus. You are not eligible if you have received a new cardmember bonus for the Venture Rewards or the Capital One Venture X in the past 48 months, counted from when the bonus posted, not your approval date. However, if you earned a bonus on the no-annual-fee VentureOne, you can still apply for the Venture Rewards and get its bonus—The Points Guy notes that moving "up the ladder" in annual fees does not trigger the restriction.
Credit is the third factor. Capital One requires excellent credit. The Points Guy recommends a minimum score of 670, though it reports seeing approvals below that mark. If your score is very low or you have no credit, a credit-building card may be a better first step.
Welcome offer and redemption
The 75,000-mile bonus plus the $300 travel credit total an estimated $1,688 in value, per The Points Guy's October 2026 valuations. Miles can be redeemed at a flat 1 cent per mile toward any travel purchase, or transferred at a 1:1 ratio to more than 15 partners such as Air Canada Aeroplan or Air France-KLM Flying Blue, often yielding higher value.
The card earns 2 miles per dollar on everyday spending and 5 miles per dollar on hotels, rental cars and vacation rentals booked through Capital One Travel.
Bottom line
Before applying, check three things: you have not received a Venture Rewards or Venture X bonus in the last 48 months, you have not been approved for any Capital One card in the last six months, and your credit score is at or above 670. If you clear all three, you are in good shape to apply, The Points Guy concludes.
