Amazon Prime Big Deal Days: TPG's travel gear picks

The Points Guy staff picked the most useful travel items from Amazon's fall sale, running through Oct. 7.

From Apple AirTags to luggage sets, there are many ways that you can save big during Amazon Prime Big Deal Days this October 6-7.

Amazon's fall Big Deal Days sale is on now, and it ends at 11:59 p.m. PDT on Oct. 7. The sale is open only to Prime members, though a free 30-day trial still gets you in if you haven't joined yet. The Points Guy staff combed through thousands of deals to highlight the ones they think are worth your money for upcoming trips or early holiday shopping.

Luggage and packing

The right bag can make or break a trip, and TPG found several options at meaningful discounts. The Away Bigger Carry-On, a hardshell spinner that fits most domestic overhead bins, is on sale from $206, down from $295. It weighs 7.9 pounds and holds enough for four to seven days if you pack light. If you prefer soft-sided, expandable luggage, the Away Softside Bigger Carry-On is $171 instead of $245, adding 2.25 inches of space when unzipped.

For a full set, Samsonite's Octiv Pro three-piece hardside set, which includes a 21-inch carry-on and 24- and 28-inch checked bags, drops to $440.99 from $629.99. Travelpro's Platinum Elite hard-side carry-on is $235, down from $325.74, and Osprey's expandable backpack, which can serve as a personal item on most flights, is up to 35% off, at $71.50 or less.

If you're checking a bag, TPG recommends an Apple AirTag 4-pack at $89, down from $99, to track it. A budget alternative is the Tile Mate 4-pack at $49.99, down from $79.99, which works with both Android and iOS.

Tech that travels

For long flights, Bose QuietComfort over-ear headphones are 53% off, at $169 from $359, though TPG notes this is to make room for a newer model. Beats Solo 4 headphones are half off at $99.95, and Apple AirPods Pro 3 are 28% below their usual price, at $179.99. A smaller Bluetooth speaker, the JBL Go 4, is $34.95 instead of $49.95, and it's waterproof.

For international travelers, the Tessan universal power adapter works in over 150 countries and has multiple USB and USB-C ports; it's 20% off, from $19.65. The Twelve South AirFly Pro 2 Bluetooth adapter, at $47.99 instead of $59.99, adds Bluetooth to any seatback screen that still has a headphone jack. If you're a remote worker, the GlocalMe Numen Air 5G mobile hot spot creates your own Wi-Fi connection anywhere; it's $254.99, down from $319.99.

Comfort and convenience

A few small items can make a big difference. The Cabeau Evolution travel neck pillow, TPG's go-to for economy sleep, is $47.49 instead of $64.99. The Kitsch Contour Pillow eye mask, which doesn't press on your eyelids, is 30% off at $18.23. For keeping cables organized, the Bagsmart large electronics travel organizer is $11.99, down from $14.99. A luggage scale from Travel Inspira is $7.99, which pays for itself if you avoid one overweight-bag fee on a budget airline.

If you're traveling with kids, the Lusso Gear airplane tray table cover, which turns the tray into a play space, is from $25.19, and the On The Plane activity book, with mazes, puzzles, and drawing games for ages 3 to 6, is $6.25 rather than $12.99.

One thing to do now

The sale ends at 11:59 p.m. PDT on Oct. 7, and TPG notes that some items, like AirTags, tend to sell out. Check the sale page soon and grab the deals that matter for your next trip.
