2026 Car Rental Awards: Readers' Choice Winners

Condé Nast Traveler's readers rated rental companies on service, selection, availability, locations, and satisfaction.

Reported by Condé Nast Traveler, the 2026 Readers' Choice Awards for car rental companies are out. Readers evaluated companies on five factors: the quality of service at the counter and on the road, the variety of vehicles in the fleet, how often the car you booked is actually waiting, the convenience of pick-up and drop-off locations, and overall satisfaction.

What the ratings mean

Each criterion tells you something specific. Service captures the human side: friendliness, efficiency, and problem-solving. Vehicle selection matters if you need a specific size or class. Vehicle availability is the gap between booking and reality: nothing worse than a downgrade at the counter. Rental locations cover both how many there are and how easy they are to reach. Overall satisfaction is the summary: would readers rent from them again?

Winners were chosen by readers without editorial influence. The full list is in the Condé Nast Traveler article. For anyone planning a rental this year, these ratings are a solid starting point. They're based on actual reader experiences, not marketing promises.
